According to mayoclinic.org, Chelation Therapy is a therapy that has been used for coronary disease and removing heavy metals from the body. A dose of EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is delivered into the bloodstream intravenously. EDTA then binds to the minerals in the bloodstream and creates a compound that leaves your body in your urine.
For coronary disease the therapy is used to bind and remove plaque from arteries. The FDA has not approved chelation therapy as a treatment for heart disease. Although, some doctors and health practitioners have used chelation therapy to treat heart disease and stroke.
It is always best to get all the information you can about a therapy before trying it. Knowledge is power.
